Asian cartoonists to unite against FECO influence

TEHRAN,April 12(MNA) -- The director the Iranian House of Cartoon has said that a number of Asian cartoon associations plan to establish a federation countering specific outlooks of the Federation of European Cartoonists Organizations (FECO). “Since European cartoonists seek their own specific policy through the FECO, which is mainly under the influence of the Zionist lobbies, the Asian artists began thinking about creating their own alliance,” Masud Shojaei told on Wednesday. “Due to their cultural affinities with the Asian artists, cartoonists and relevant societies from Brazil and Cuba will also joint the Asian federation,” he added. The headquarters of the federation will be based in China and it will begin to select members through its website in June, Shojaei said. Raed Khalil (Syria), Jitet Kostana (Indonesia), Seyran Jafarli (Azerbaijan), Suat Yalaz and Erdogan Karayel (Turkey) and several other cartoonists from Brazil and China are the main founders of the federation. Shojaei expressed hope that the Asian federation will stand above the FECO and will break its monopoly on international events.
