Pollution in Persian Gulf is 46 times higher than permissible limit

TEHRAN, April 16 (MNA) - The intensity of marine pollution in the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman is 46 times higher than the permissible level, a member of the research institute of jungle and pasture said. Mohammad Darvish told that the pollution of surface and underground waters which has resulted from home and industrial sewage is emerging as a serious problem. He said the pollution has expanded to waters of the Persian Gulf, Sea of Oman and Caspian Sea. Darvish added that the Caspian Sea is one of the polluted lakes in the world where two kinds of fish including caviar and kilka are nearing extinction.
