Small number of female MPs disappointing: Iranian ex-lawmaker

TEHRAN, April 16 (MNA) – Decreasing number of female MPs in Iranian parliament since the 7th Majlis is disappointing, said former woman MP Elham Aminzadeh. The number of female MPs in the 7th Majlis (2004-2008) was reduced from 13 to 8 in the 8th Majlis (the current parliament), Aminzadeh said . “In a developed country like Iran, we expect active presence of women in managerial positions and as lawmakers,” she added.
