Kazakhstan President Arrives For A Two-Day State Visit

SEPANG (Selangor, Malaysia), April 17 (Bernama) -- Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev arrived at the Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here for a two-day State visit beginning Tuesday.
The aircraft carrying Nazarbayev (second from right) landed at the airport at 3.30pm, and upon arrival he was introduced to Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman (second from left) by Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov (left).
Also present at the airport to greet the President was Malaysian Works Minister Shaziman Abu Mansor (right) who is the minister-in-attendance.
This is Nursultan Nazarbayev's third state visit to Malaysia in 16 years (after 1996 and 2006), a reflection of the close relations between Malaysia and Kazakhstan.
During his visit here, Nazarbayev will be accompanied by a delegation comprising ministers and senior government officials.
Kazakhstan is Malaysia's second largest trading partner among Central Asian countries while Malaysia is Kazakhstan's second largest trading partner within the Asean region.
In 2011, total trade between both countries was US$61.1 million (RM183.3 million) with Malaysia's imports amounting to US$1 million (RM3 million) while exports were US$60.1 million (RM180.3 million).
The President is expected to have a Royal Audience with Malaysia's King Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah on Wednesday.
He is also scheduled to meet Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak in Putrajaya tomorrow, where there will be a delegation meeting to discuss on bilateral, regional and international issues. (photoBERNAMA)
