Iran Khodro to roll out Diesel Samand this Year

TEHRAN,April 19(MNA)--Iranian carmaker Iran Khodro will unveil the first domestically-made diesel car in the current calendar year, which began on March 20. The car is equipped with diesel engine, which meets Euro V standard requirements. The company intends to mass produce diesel passenger cars in less than two years. The company's diesel engine would be suitable for segment D cars like Samand, Soren and Dena. Iran has developed its domestic car industry for five decades and produced 1.6 million vehicles last year, about half of them made by Iran Khodro, which aims to export around 10 percent of its production this year, Reuters reported.
