Bangkok to be developed as metropolis of happiness
BANGKOK, April 24 (TNA) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is developing the Thai capital to be a metropolis of happiness with public safety and facilities in all areas, as guidelined by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
When delivering a speech at the Architect’12 exposition in Bangkok Tuesday, Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra confirmed the move, saying that it is aimed at honoring His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of the beloved Thai monarch’s 85th birthday anniversary on December 5, 2012.
Under the plan, the Bangkok governor said, the BMA and the local private sector will be jointly installing about 200,000 surveillance cameras in the capital, which are linked to all police stations to boost public safety.
According to the Bangkok governor, the BMA will also strictly enforce the Building Control Act to guarantee safe conditions of buildings in the capital, apart from improving local infrastructure, public transit, public health and other facilities and even promoting the use of bicycles. (TNA)
