More surgery for Renae Lawrence in Bali

Australian heroin smuggler Renae Lawrence has had surgery in Bali for recurring haemorrhoids. Lawrence, who is serving 20 years for her role in the Bali Nine heroin ring, was admitted to Sanglah Hospital on Thursday, under police guard.

The governor of Bali's Kerobokan prison, Yon Suharyono, confirmed the former panel beater was suffering from a bad case of haemorrhoids.
"She often suffers from this condition," he said. "She went to the hospital twice last week for check-ups, and then the doctor decided
she needed to operate so we requested police assistance to escort her to the hospital yesterday."

Dr Ketut Sudartana, who performed the operation on Friday, said Lawrence would spend
at least three days recuperating under the watch of two police guards.
"She is now recovering and her condition is stable," the doctor said.
Lawrence underwent surgery for the same condition just over a year ago.
She has been held at Kerobokan Prison since 2005, along with the other Bali Nine
members who tried to smuggle 8.2kg of heroin from Bali to Australia.
Three of them are on death row and five others are serving life sentences.
Lawrence turns 31 on Saturday.
