PR launched for Thailand's host of WEF on East Asia 2012

BANGKOK, April 26 (TNA) - The government has injected a 50-million-baht budget for a public relations campaign internationally to promote Thailand's host of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia 2012, scheduled for May 30-June 1. Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisan told journalists that the official PR campaign, also aimed to restore confidence in Thailand among international investors and travellers in the wake of a flooding crisis late last year, will start later this month. Niwatthamrong said that Thai Airways International (THAI), the national flag carrier, has agreed to join forces with the government in the PR campaign, noting that all types of media channels will also be used, locally and globally, to promote the Kingdom's host of the forthcoming world forum. According to the Thai minister, the WEF on East Asia 2012 appears to be the largest so far, drawing as many as about 600 leading business operators from across the world as its participants. The minister acknowledged that the two-day forum will, therefore, become Thailand's good post-flood opportunity to attract international investment projects, inviting the public to join the government in welcoming the global guests as a good host.
