Heat and drought widely affect Thailand
CHIANG RAI (THAILAND), April 27 (TNA) - Heat and drought have widely affected Thailand at different extents.
In the Upper Thai North, over 5,000 imported dairy cows in Chiang Rai Province are suffering from the heat, as they eat less and produce lower amounts of milk and some of them are even developing udder infection.
In the Lower Thai North, water levels of the Yom River have been critically subsiding in its section passing Phichit Province's Sam Ngam, Pho Prathapchang, Bung Narang and Pho Thalay Districts; while local farmers have been advised to delay their second rice crop as drought is likely to continue until late next month.
In the Upper Thai South, the Huai Yang Waterfall in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province's Thap Sakae District is drying up, prompting local national park officials to have moved mahseer barb fish from the waterfall to other water sources to save them.
Meanwhile, a heavy rainstorm hit and darkened Thailand's northeastern Nakhon Phanom Province, where local disaster prevention and mitigation authorities have warned people to brace for possible damages to their houses and higher risks of road accidents. (TNA)
