Campaigning for Iran’s run-off parliamentary election begins

TEHRAN, April 28(MNA) – Campaigning for Iran’s run-off parliamentary election officially began at 8:00 a.m. on April 26 and ends at 8:00 a.m. on May 3.
The election will be held on May 4.
Two hundred and twenty five parliamentary seats were decided in the first round of the parliamentary election on March 2. One hundred and thirty five candidates will contest for the remaining 65 seats in the second round.
According to the law, each candidate must win a fourth of the votes in his or her constituency to be elected as lawmaker in the first round to serve a four-year term.
Only five candidates in Tehran succeeded to win parliamentary seats in the first round and 50 others are competing in the second round.
The metropolis of Tehran is represented by 30 lawmakers in the parliament.
The five candidates who have been elected to the parliament from the Tehran constituency are Gholam Ali Hadad-Adel with 1.096.744 votes, Alireza Marandi with 92.617 votes, Seyyed Mohammad Hassan Aboutoradifard with 677.720 votes, Morteza Agha-Tehrani with 676.142 votes, and Massoud Mirkazemi with 574.049 votes.
