Italian troupe to perform at Tehran theater complex in September

TEHRAN,May 15(MNA) -- An Italian troupe plans to stage two plays at Tehran’s Iranshahr Theater Complex in September. The Muta Imago Troupe is scheduled to perform “Lev” and “(a+b) 3”, both were staged at previous editions of Iran’s Fajr International Theater Festival. The troupe has traveled to Tehran to stage “Red Rage” at Iran’s International University Theater Festival. The International University Theater Festival will run until May 20 in Tehran. “I am very happy to participate at the student theater festival which provides an opportunity for me to have more interactions with Iranian people,” director Claudia Sorace said in a press conference in Tehran on Sunday. “Lev” narrates the life of a Russian veteran during World War II who loses his memory and is obliged to contact with people through his eyes. “He goes beyond the metaphysical world and the audience should be in his shoes in order to understand him,” she said. “We are mostly working on movement and atmosphere in ‘Lev’ which is considered as a performance art,” the playwright Riccardo Fazi mentioned during the event. “We created a pièce based upon the gaze of Lev Zasetsky, patient of Alexander Lurja, renowned Russian neuro-psychiatrist. We discovered among the pages of Lev’s diary a vertigo that talked about us and how we feel today. We’ve worked for a whole year trying to be closer as possible to this mystery that fascinates us,” Fazi mentioned in a note on “Lev”. Another play “(a+b) 3” narrates the life of two lovers who intended to go out at night. They prepared themselves. They move frantic, until they stop in front of a mirror that carves their names on their thin shadows. “The Iranshahr Theater Complex emphasized on international exchanges in the field of theater,” Iranshahr Theater Complex official Mohammad Hariri mentioned during the conference. He expressed his hope over signing an agreement between Iranshahr Theater Complex and Muta Imago Troupe to continue their cooperation and to dispatch Iranian troupes to Italy for performances. Founded in 2004 by Riccardo Fazi (playwright) and Claudia Sorace (director) and Massimo Troncanetti (scenographer), Muta Imago has a contemporary approach to theatrical research with an “improper” use of technology and a highly corporeal style recitation. Well versed in articulated projects, the group has found its true formula in the trilogy on memory, “(a+b) 3”, “Lev” and “Madeleine”.
