Iran’s approach to Syrian issue in line with Annan plan: UN

TEHRAN, May 19 (MNA) – The Islamic Republic’s stance toward the Syrian issue is in line with efforts to advance Kofi Annan’s plan, General Robert Mood, who is the head of the UN mission in Syria, told Iranian Ambassador to Damascus Mohammad Reza Sheibani in a meeting on Thursday. Mood emphasized Iran’s role in resolving the Syrian crisis and called on Tehran to support Annan’s peace plan. Annan, the former UN secretary general, has put forward a six-point peace plan which calls for a UN-supervised ceasefire by all parties, the withdrawal of soldiers and heavy weapons from cities, and the delivery of humanitarian assistance.
