Iranian documentarian Mehrdad Oskuii’s docs discussed at Austrian Film Archive

TEHRAN,May 20(MNA) -- The Austrian Film Archive (Filmarchiv Austria) discussed two films by the Iranian documentarian Mehrdad Oskuii on May 18 and 19. “It’s Always Late for Freedom” (2007) and “Nose, Iranian Style” (2005), which both have critically been acclaimed in the international events, were also screened, the film archive announced in its website. Oskuii, 43, attended the screenings of his films and Q&A meetings with a number of Austrian filmmakers and ordinary filmgoers. “It’s Always Late for Freedom” is about a youth correctional center in Tehran where prematurely tough and world-weary boys discover the simple joys of childhood and friendship through mischief, pranks, and sports. The documentary won the award for the best mid-length documentary at 2008 Hot Docs, a prestigious Canadian international documentary festival. “Iranian-Style Nose” is about issues related to rhinoplasty in Iran, specifically why so many Iranians are getting nose jobs.
