Secure Persian Gulf benefits the entire world: Iranian general

TEHRAN, May 21(MNA) - An Iranian Army general said that the maintenance of security in the Persian Gulf region will benefit the entire world. The maintenance of security and stability in the Persian Gulf region not only benefits regional countries but also is in the interests of the entire world, Brigadier General Mostafa Salami stated on Sunday. The Persian Gulf region accounts for a high percentage of the world’s seaborne oil shipments, he said, adding, “Unity and the expansion of relations among Muslim countries (in the region) greatly affect the maintenance of security, peace, and stability in this sensitive region, and this will affect the entire world.” Salami went on to say that Iran wants to see increased cooperation and unity among regional countries. He also stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has never taken provocative measures in the region.
