Iran, 5+1 resume 'third round' of talks in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, May 26 (MNA) – Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the U.S., Russia, China, Britain, France – plus Germany) resumed a third round of talks on Thursday afternoon in Baghdad.
As Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili and European Union’s chief diplomat Catherine Ashton were preparing to hold separate press conferences another round of talks was started between Iran and the six others.
Anthon represents the six-nation bloc in the talks with Iran.
According to informed sources the third round of talks was requested by the 5+1 group in an attempt to win Iran’s consent.
Before the third round of talks, Jalili held a joint meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu.
The meeting with the Russian and Chinese representatives in the talks came after Jalili held his third round of private talks with Ashton.
