Iranian director to make doc on conversion to Islam in Japan, South America

TEHRAN,May 26(MNA) -- An Iranian filmmaker planned to make a documentary about conversion to Islam in Japan and some countries in South America. The research for the documentary has been completed and shooting will begin in the near future, director Mohammad-Ali Farsi told Mehr News Agency on Friday. “In our studies, we learned that a large number of the people who converted to Islam are women,” he said. “Thus, a large portion of the documentary will study the reasons behind the women’s inclination to Islam,” he added. “The documentary will also review how the people who have recently been converted to Islam can connect with the Holy Quran,” he stated. Farsi made a documentary on French Orientalist and Hafez expert Charles-Henri de Fouchecour last year. The documentary was part 2 of a trilogy entitled “Majnun”. Part 1 was about English writer Edward FitzGerald, who is best known for his English translation of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. The last part of the trilogy will focus on English Orientalist R.A. Nicholson, a translator of Rumi’s works.
