DEPT SETS UP AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING DIVISION TO ENHANCE DELIVERY SYSTEM

KUALA TERENGGANU (Malaysia), Oct 13 (Bernama) -- The Road Transport
Department (JPJ) has set up a division known as the Automotive Engineering
Division at all its state offices except in northern state of Perlis and
southern state of Melaka to enhance the department's service delivery
system.

Its director-general Solah Mat Hassan said with the setting up of the
division since Aug 15, the public needed not go to the JPJ headquarters in
Putrajaya over technical matters as these could be resolved at the state level.

"This division has engineers and technicians who can deal with technical
matters involving vehicle modifications, engine change and chassis," he said
after attending a dialogue with lorry, bus and taxi operators' associations,
in thi seast coast town Sunday.

Solah said for JPJ state offices without the engineers, the vacancies would
be filled up soonest possible.

"The placement of staff for the division is not restricted as it depends on
the size and needs of the state JPJ offices," he added.

Solah said the setting up of the Automotive Engineering Division at the
state offices would save the public travelling cost to Putrajaya besides
shortening the time taken for approving applications.

"However, there are cases that require approval from the JPJ headquarters
and therefore, the applicants still need to go to Putrajaya," he said.
