Iran should not engage in further talks with 5+1 group: Iranian analyst
TEHRAN,May 27(MNA) - Hossein Shariatmadari, the chief editor of the Kayhan newspaper, says it would be better if Iran does not engage in further talks with the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) since world powers want to negotiate for the sake of negotiations.
The United States and its allies, particularly Britain, are seeking to fulfill their “political needs” amid the crisis gripping the West through holding talks with Iran, Shariatmadari wrote in the editorial of the May 26 edition of the daily.
He noted that the decision to hold “negotiations in Moscow or anywhere else in the world needs to be reviewed, and it is feared that the continuation of talks, at least without devising a modality and obliging the sides to act according to it, could be playing on the field prepared by the enemy.”
Shariatmadari also wrote it can be predicted that the next round of talks, which is scheduled to be held in Moscow on June 18 and 19, would not produce positive results.
