TEHRAN,May 30(MNA) – A book containing photos of the main characters in the Iranian film productions about the Qajar era (1794-1925) was unveiled during a ceremony at the Golestan Palace Museum on Monday. Entitled “Seven Kings in One Kingdom”, the book contains photos by Masud Ajami, who worked for the TV series “The Years of the Constitutional Movement”, “The Edifice” and “Tabriz in the Fog”, all directed by Mohammadreza Varzi. A number of the actors from the serials including Jamshid Mashayekhi, Mohammad Moti, Iraj Raad, Mohammadreza Sharifinia and director Varzi were honored at the palace museum, which is a Qajar era monument in downtown Tehran. Mashayekhi was honored for his portrayals of Nasser ad-Din Shah in Ali Hatami’s “The Sultan of Sahebqaran” (1976) and Qajar era painter Kamalolmolk in the film “Kamalolmolk” (1984). During his acceptance speech, Mashayekhi recalled the old days when he played in the films and regarded the roles as the great honor for himself. Iraj Raad was next who received an honorary plaque for playing the role of Nasser ad-Din Shah in the TV series “Amirkabir” by director Saeid Nikpur. “When I was asked to play the role of Nasser ad-Din Shah, at first did not dare to accept it, since Mashayekhi had played the role beautifully in Hatami’s ‘The Sultan of Sahebqaran’”, Raad said. Ajami has put a selection of the photos published in the book on display in an exhibition at the palace museum. He expressed his happiness that he was able to register slices from the history of Iran in the book. Varzi was next honored and voice actor Changiz Jalilvand, who had lent his voice to most of the characters played by Mashayekhi in the movies and TV series, was the last to be honored.
