Tehran’s Shirin Gallery to hold graffiti festival in summer

TEHRAN,June 5 (MNA) -- Tehran’s Shirin Gallery is organizing a festival of graffiti in summer. Graffiti are markings, slogans or drawings, written or sketched on a sidewalk, or wall of a building to express the artists’ feelings and there are no limits in the number of the participants, gallery director Shirin Partovi said in a press release on Monday. The artists can make use of the walls of the gallery for a week to daub with graffiti, she said, adding that the works will remain on the walls until the next season begins in autumn. The gallery aims to encourage the young artists active in the field of street arts as a kind of modern art, Partovi said. The gallery will provide all the required materials the artists need for their work and interested applicants are asked to get them from the gallery, she added. Shirin gallery is located at No. 9, 18th street, in the Velenjak neighborhood. A three-day symposium of sculpture will open at the gallery today.
