Ahmadinejad says to propose solutions to intl. issues at Shanghai summit

TEHRAN, June 6 (MNA) – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that Iran will propose new solutions to international issues at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, which will be held in Beijing on June 6 and 7. “The Islamic Republic of Iran will present new proposals for coming through ongoing developments and resolving international economic crises,” Ahmadinejad told reporters on Tuesday before leaving Tehran for a four-day visit to China to participate in the Shanghai summit. He also said that one of the purposes of his visit is to meet with Chinese officials to explore ways of expanding economic relations between the two countries. He added that China is Iran’s main trade partner. The SCO includes China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Iran received observer status in 2005. Ahmadinejad will hold meetings with Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao in Beijing on June 8. He will also hold talks with the leaders of a number of countries including Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the conference.
