Iranian, Turkish cartoonists share first prize at Aydin Dogan competition

TEHRAN,June 6(MNA) -- Iranian cartoonist Javad Alizadeh and Turkish artist Dogan Arslan have been announced as the joint winners of the first prize at the 29th Aydin Dogan International Cartoon Competition, which is held annually by Turkey’s Aydin Dogan Foundation. The jury also picked Serbia’s Vladimir Stankovski as the second winner, and Pawel Kuczynski from Poland was announced as the third winner, the competition website reported Tuesday. In addition, Iranian cartoonists Aaliyeh Mazaheri and Negin Naqian along with eight caricaturists from other countries will be honored during the award presentation ceremony, which scheduled to be held in Istanbul on October 9. The first winner will receive $8000 and the Aydin Dogan Foundation Award, while the second will receive $5000 and the third $3500. A selection of the entries has been showcased in an exhibition at the Ottoman Shipyard Art Gallery in Bodrum. The exhibit runs until June 14. Iranian cartoonist Firuzeh Mozaffari was among the international jury members of the competition. Stan Mack from USA, Antonio Antunes from Portugal, Viktor Kudin from Ukraine, Zhu Zizun from China Tan Oral from Turkey are some other members of the jury. The winners were chosen from over 170 cartoons by 147 cartoonists from 47 countries.
