IAEA inspectors allowed back in Yongbyon nuclear complex: diplomat+

VIENNA, Oct. 13 Kyodo - North Korea has allowed International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors to go back to its nuclear facilities in Yongbyon, a diplomat close to the IAEA confirmed Monday.

North Korea on Sunday welcomed its removal from the U.S. blacklist of terrorist
sponsors and said it will resume disablement of the Yongbyon nuclear complex
and allow IAEA inspectors and U.S. nuclear experts to resume their activities.
Under a six-party accord involving North and South Korea, the United States,
China, Japan and Russia, the North is to disable its nuclear facilities in
Yongbyon, about 90 kilometers north of Pyongyang, in return for energy and
diplomatic benefits.
But North Korea stopped disablement work at the Yongbyon complex in mid-August
in protest at a U.S. decision to delay Pyongyang's removal from the terror
list. Pyongyang last week banned IAEA inspectors from all nuclear facilities in
Yongbyon.
The United States crossed North Korea off the list Saturday, after reaching an
agreement with Pyongyang on a series of measures to verify the North's nuclear
activities.
