“The Bald Soprano” on stage at Tehran cultural center
TEHRAN,June 9(MNA) -- An Iranian theater troupe is staging “The Bald Soprano” written by Romanian-French playwright Eugène Ionesco at Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural Center.
Leilaj theater troupe led by Farzad Dehnavi performs the play based on a Persian version of “The Bald Soprano”, which has been translated by veteran Iranian filmmaker Dariush Mehrjuii.
Parham Yadollahi, Saeideh Ajorli, Farzad Dehnavi, Golnush Momeni, Melody Aramnia, Mohammadreza Khadem and Afshin Zamani are the members of the cast.
The play, which challenges the pathetic and catty relationships in the modern life, is about Mr. and Mrs. Smith, who have invited Mr. and Mrs. Martin over for dinner.
Ionesco was in his forties when wrote his first version of “The Bald Soprano”. He became inspired to write the play while trying to learn English from a primer.
The play will be on stage until June 30.
