Top Iranian volleyball official apologizes to nation

TEHRAN,June 12(MNA) – Head of Iran Volleyball Federation Mohammad-Reza Davarzani apologized to the Iranian people for failing to advance to the Olympic Games. Iran volleyball team appeared to be on the verge of qualifying for the Olympics but they came short in the competitions, which were held in Tokyo last week. “In my opinion, Iran played well in the tournament and I am satisfied with them but we have some inexperienced players in our team. We have a long way to go and have to participate in more international competitions. I apologize to all the Iranian people and we will try to make them happy in the future,” Davarzani said. Serbia won the championship and booked a berth in the event. Australia also finished at the second place and advanced to the Olympics as the best Asian team. Iran defeated South Korea, China, Portorico, Venezuela, Japan and lost to Serbia and Australia.
