Iran says there is no military solution to Syria crisis

TEHRAN, June 13 (MNA) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that the Syrian issue has no military solution and reiterated that any military interference in the country will only push the region into a highly dangerous situation.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast warned certain Western countries about the repercussions of any act of adventurism in Syria and said that they should act wisely in this regard and avoid making decisions that precipitate a crisis in the entire region.
Certain countries do not seek to resolve the Syrian issue at all and their main objective is to provide security for the Zionist regime, Mehmanparast said during his regular press briefing.
In reply to a question about a Yemeni-style solution for the Syrian crisis, Mehmanparast said that the crisis can be resolved only through a “Syrian-Syrian solution.”
He went on to say that all nations should support Kofi Annan’s plan on Syria to establish peace in the country.
Annan, the UN-Arab League joint special envoy on Syria, has put forward a six-point peace plan for ending the crisis in Syria, which calls for a UN-supervised ceasefire by all parties, the withdrawal of soldiers and heavy weapons from cities, and the delivery of humanitarian assistance.
