China reiterates diplomatic solution to Iran’s nuclear issue

TEHRAN, June 13 (MNA) – Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin called on all parties involved in the discussion over Iran’s nuclear program to accommodate each other’s concerns and seek a resolution to the dispute through dialogue.
During a regular press conference on Monday, Liu expressed hope that all parties concerned would show further flexibility and pragmatism in the upcoming talks on Iran’s nuclear program in Russia, Xinhua reported.
China has been actively committed to promoting peace, and is ready to work with all parties to push for a comprehensive and appropriate settlement to Iran’s nuclear issue, Liu said.
Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) held a new round of talks in Baghdad on May 23 and 24 and agreed to continue their negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear program in Moscow on June 18 and 19.
In an interview published on May 27, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili said, “Of course, the Baghdad talks had a great effect on the adjustment of the stance of the 5+1.”
However, the group could not make a decision on the package of proposals that Iran had presented and announced that they had to discuss issues raised by Iran with their countries’ officials, Jalili said.
The Islamic Republic presented a five-point proposal during the talks in Baghdad.
