West Fails To Achieve Its Nuclear Goals : Jalili

Tehran, June 13, IRNA – Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili said on Wednesday that the West has failed to prevent the Iranian nation from seeking nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Attending the Wednesday open session of Majlis, Jalili briefed MPs on the process of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1. All the West's technical, legal and political attempts against Iran's peaceful nuclear program failed, he emphasized. The top Iranian negotiator further condemned efforts made by certain western states to impose sanctions on Iran and exert economic pressures on the nation. He stressed that peaceful nuclear activities are legitimate rights of the Iranian nation, adding that Tehran attaches great importance to the nuclear issue and sees it as its basic right. The SNSC secretary reiterated that Iran's nuclear program is a symbol of the nation's resistance and progress. Iran and the sextet- the US, Britain, France, Russia and China plus Germany- are to hold nuclear negotiations on June 18-19 in Moscow./end
