Tatar President Interested In Expansion Of Ties With Iran

Moscow, June 13, IRNA – President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said on Wednesday that he is seriously determined to strengthen ties with Tehran. In an exclusive interview with IRNA, President Minnikhanov said he is making efforts to remove obstacles in the way of further boost in bilateral cooperation. He said the Republic of Tatarstan enjoys bilateral cooperation with Iran in the fields of gas, oil and industry, underlining the need to take further steps to deepen bilateral relations. He condemned West's unilateral sanctions against Iran and reiterated that such moves cannot hinder promotion of ties between Iran and other world countries including Tatarstan. Praising Iran's scientific and industrial progress in the past few years, he said the Islamic Republic has made great investments in various fields. As to Iran's oil and gas activities, he said Iran is a major partner for Tatarstan in those areas./end
