Iranian artist Hojat Amani invited to Nepalese festival

TEHRAN,June 14(MNA) -- Iranian artist Hojat Amani was invited to the Second Kathmandu International Art Festival in Nepal. Amani, 33, is famous for his unique style of creating artworks from photographic prints. His love for angels led him to create the Angels series, a collection of photographic prints showing men and women posing as angels in various backgrounds. He is also a prominent environmental artist. The earth, body and mind are the focus of this year’s Kathmandu festival, which will be held from November 25 to December 21. Thus, Amani plans to put on show his performance art entitled “A Requiem for the Earth” at the festival, a number of Internet Persian media outlets announced on Tuesday. Amani said that he has used the folk music of the Lorestan region and the mourning rites common in the west of Iran to create the performance art All the expenses for creating the art performance have been paid for by the Siddhartha Arts Foundation, the organizer of the event, he added. The foundation seeks artistic ways of promoting man to return to nature, he stated. Amani’s works have previously been showcased in over 20 Iranian and foreign exhibitions. One of his photographic prints from the Angels series was sold for $2640 at Bonhams in London in April 2011.
