Iran Invites Qatari Emir For NAM Summit

Abu Dhabi, June 16, IRNA – Iran's Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi on Saturday handed over written message of President Mahmud Ahmadinejad to Qatari Emir, inviting him to attend the upcoming 16th Summit meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to be held in Tehran on August 26-31. In a meeting with Emir Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Qasemi said Tehran has always been interested in establishment of peace, tranquility and security in the Persian Gulf region. On Iran-Qatar ancient and historical relations, he described the two countries cooperation as a good example for other regional countries. The Qatari Emir, for his part, called for enhanced mutual ties in all areas, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a powerful regional country. He reiterated that dialog is the only solution to the existing problem between Iran and the West./end
