“Wet Letters” leads the pack at Iranian video filmfest

TEHRAN,June 24(MNA) – “Wet Letters”, a family drama directed by Marjan Ashrafizadeh, has won six awards at the 1st Tehran International Video Film Festival. The film, about a young girl who takes care of her old mother for years, won awards in the five categories of best film, best director, best actress, best editing and best sound recording. It was also selected as the Audience Favorite Film and the director received the award for this section. The winners were announced during the closing ceremony of the festival, which was held at the Esteqlal Hotel on Friday. Ashrafizadeh, who also is the producer of “Wet Letters”, received her awards from actress Merila Zarei. Masumeh Qasemipur received the Best Actress Award for her role in “Wet Letters” and the Best Editing Award went to Sina Ganjavi for the film. In addition, Ramin Abossedq received the Best Sound Recording Award for his collaboration in “Wet Letters”. The Best Actor Award went to Dariush Arjmand for his role in “Loose Talk” and Ayda Panahandeh and Arsalan Amiri Best Screenwriter Award for their joint efforts in “The Lost Honor of Mr. Sadeqi”. Ghaffar Rezaei won the Best Costume and the Best Stage Designer Award for “Loose Talk”. Saeid Ansari won the Best Composer Award for “Staying or Going: A Dilemma”. Reza Behbudi won the Best Supporting Actor Award for “The Lost Honor of Mr. Sadeqi”. No one was announced as winner of the Best Supporting Actress Award. Mohammad Nasseri won the Best Cinematographer Award for “No. 7”. The festival, held from June 17 to 22, was organized by Iran’s Visual Media Institute and the Iran Cinema Organization.
