Evin prisoners to enjoy theatrical play

TEHRAN,June 24(MNA) – A director planned to stage a play about the Iranian movie star Hamed Behdad in the Evin Prison in Tehran today. Zoheir Yari’s troupe has performed “My Love; Hamed Behdad”, which is an environmental theater play, at the cafeteria of Tehran’s City Theater Complex over the past two weeks. Based on the play “Reza Beikimanverdi” by Ebrahim Makki, the play was written by Afshin Hashemi. The play is about an avid fan of the Iranian movie star, Hamed Behdad who comes to the cafeteria of the City Theater Complex to watch a play in which Behdad stars, but he does not have ticket. In the cafeteria, he begins talking with another young man who claims that he knows Behdad. “If a society can maintain its cultural relations, it will be able to maintain its soundness and dynamism,” Afshin Hashemi told on Saturday. “There are some people who are not able to go to the theater, so if we can take the theater to them, why not?” he added. “My Love; Hamed Behdad”, starring Afshin Hashemi and Zoheir Yari, has been warmly welcomed by audiences and it will most likely be performed until June 29.
