Iran President Back Home After 5-day Visit To Latin America

Tehran, June 25, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad returned home Sunday, ending his five-day visit to three Latin American countries. Upon arrival, the President was welcomed by First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi and Ali Abar Velayati, the senior Advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. During his Latin American tour that began last Monday, President Ahmadinejad visited Bolivia, Brazil and Venezuela respectively. A number of cabinet members and presidential advisors accompanied him to those three countries. On his first leg of tour, the President arrived in La Paz, Bolivia, and held talks with his Bolivian counterpart Evo Morales. He then arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to attend and address the Rio+20 International Conference on Sustainable Development on June 20-22. In Rio de Janeiro, the Iranian President met with a number of world leaders as well as Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon. On his last leg of Latin American tour, the President arrived in Caracas, Venezuela, where he conferred with President Hugo Chavez on the issues of mutual interests.
