Two Iranian engineers abducted in Syria released

TEHRAN,June 30(MNA) – An Iranian engineer and a technician who had been abducted in Syria in December 2011 arrived at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport in the early hours of Friday morning.
Sajjad Amirian and Kiyoumars Qobadi were taken hostage by armed insurgents along with five other engineers and technicians in the restive city of Homs, two of whom were released in mid-May.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Parliamentary and Consular Affairs Hassan Qashqavi, who welcomed the engineers at the airport, said that efforts are underway to obtain the release of other Iranian nationals abducted in Syria.
He also thanked the relevant officials for their efforts to help release Amirian and Qobadi.
