SHABERY IN GUANGXI FOR ASEAN PLUS CHINA INFORMATION MINISTERS` MEETING From Yong Soo Heong
NANNING (Guangxi, China), Oct 15 (Bernama) -- Information Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek arrived here Tuesday for a four-day working visit which includes attending a meeting between ministers responsible for information and media of Asean and China on Thursday.
Shabery was met on arrival at the airport by Huang Sheng Jie, Deputy
Secretary General of the Guangxi provincial government. He was then feted at
dinner hosted by Pan Heijun, Vice Mayor of the Nanning municipal
government.
On Wednesday, he will be interviewed by China Radio International and visit
Nanning's TV station. He will also visit the Nanning City Emergency Response
Centre and its Digital Command Centre the same day.
The theme of Thursday's meeting is "Enhancing Information Exchanges and
Cooperation between China and Asean". Shabery will deliver a speech at the
meeting.
The Asean and Chinese ministers are to sign a memorandum of understanding
on information and media cooperation.
The conference is being organised by the Guangxi provincial government and
sponsored by China's State Council Information Office.
Besides the ministers, editors-in-chief, presidents and vice presidents of
news organisations in China like Xinhua, People's Daily, China Central
Television and China Daily will attend the conference.
