Turan Mirhadi nominated for 2013 Astrid Lindgren Award
TEHRAN,July 7(MNA) -- Turan Mirhadi is another Iranian nominee for the 2013 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, which is presented annually by the Swedish government.
A veteran researcher and co-founder of the Children’s Book Council, Mirhadi was nominated by the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature in Iran.
The institute has announced that Mirhadi has been nominated for her lifetime achievements in children’s literature.
Previously, Iran’s Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) nominated author Ahmadreza Ahmadi and book illustrator Farshid Mesqali for the award.
In addition, the Children’s Book Council of Iran nominated the book illustrator Mohammad Baniasadi for the prize.
The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award is the world’s largest prize for children’s and young adults’ literature. It is awarded annually to a single recipient or to several individuals. Authors, illustrators, oral storytellers and those active in reading promotion are eligible to receive the prize.
Dutch author Guus Kuijer won the Astrid Lindgren memorial award in 2012, and Australian writer and illustrator Shaun Tan received the award in 2011.
