Tehran’s Book City to review Carlos Fuentes’ oeuvre
TEHRAN,July 7(MNA) – Tehran’s Book City will review books written by the oeuvre of the Mexican writer Carlos Fuentes during a session on Monday.
The Mexican Ambassador Juan Carlos Tirado Zavala, critic Amirali Nojumian, and the Persian translators of Fuentes’ books Abdollah Kowsari and Ali-Akbar Fallahi will attend the session.
Fuentes’ “Aura”, “A Change of Skin”, “The Old Gringo”, and “Constancia and Other Stories for Virgins” were translated into Persian by Kowsari.
Fallahi has rendered Fuentes’ “Burnt Water” by into Persian and is now translating “The Orange Three”.
Carlos Fuentes (1928–2012) was a Mexican novelist and essayist. In his obituary, the New York Times described him as “one of the most admired writers in the Spanish-speaking world”.
He had a great influence on “El Boom”, the “explosion of Latin American literature in the 1960s and `70s”, while The Guardian called him “Mexico’s most celebrated novelist”.
The Book City is located on the corner of Third Alley and Ahmad Qasir St., north of Shahid Beheshti Ave.
