Iranian handicrafts, First Quality In The World

Karaj, Alborz Prov, July 10, IRNA – Deputy Head of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Mohammad-Hassan Salehimaram said here Monday evening quality of Iranian handicrafts rank first in the world today.
Salehimaram who was speaking with an IRNA Arts and Culture reporter on the sidelines of the Handicrafts Packing Festival added, “Both in terms of quality and in terms of diversity, the Iranian handicrafts rank first in the world today.”
He reiterated, “Today 116 Iranian handicrafts have managed to gain the seal of supremacy and superior quality stamp from the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), while 40 other works are in the waiting list to gain the quality stamp of that organization, and the handicrafts of no other country in the world have gained so much international recognition and pride.”
Salehimaram referred to the Persian carpets, rugs, embossed metallic works, word works, an miniatures as some of the Iranian handicrafts that have thanks to the hard work and creativity of the Iranian artists gained the UNESCO high quality stamps.
On offering low price facilities to the artists involved in producing high quality handicrafts, he said, “We have arranged for providing low interest baking facilities for the producers to provide workshops and create jobs in this field, and that includes the activists in the packing industry for the handicrafts.”
He noted that in near future Iranian handicrafts would be presented at a palace museum, as well as a special section at the National Iranian Traditional Arts Museum at the intersection of Azadi and Imam Khomeini (P) streets of Tehran.
Iranian handicrafts are artifacts useful in ordinary life or for decorative purposes. They are made completely by hand or using only simple tools. Usually the term is applied to traditional means of making goods./end
