Photos of 110 Iranian cineastes on display at Tehran gallery

TEHRAN,July 10(MNA) -- Photos depicting everyday images of Iranian actors and filmmakers have been put on display in the exhibition “110 Iranian Cinema Faces” at the gallery of the Mellat Cinema Complex. Organized by Donya-ye Tasvir (Picture World) Magazine, the photos have been taken by Shahabeddin Adel at the atelier established by the managing director of the magazine Ali Mo’allem. “The idea came to my mind when actress Jamileh Sheikhi died several years ago when we needed a portrait of her in real life, not one taken from a film scene,” Mo’allem writes in a note put at the entrance of the gallery. “This led to the opening of the atelier, in which portraits of over a hundred actors and filmmakers have been registered so far”, the note adds. Photos of Ezzatollah Entezami, Behruz Afkhami, Ebrahim Hatamikia, Khosrow Shakibaii, Behzad Farahani, Iraj Qaderi and Dariush Mehrjuii are seen in the collection. According to photographer Adel, there was not a complete photo archive of cinema and theater actors, and that he began to make this archive 15 years ago. Honesty is quite obvious in the photos and portraits seem very real in black and white. Moreover, black and white photos remind the viewers of the old days, says Adel. The exhibition will be running until July 15 at the gallery located on Vali-e Asr Ave., off Niayesh Highway.
