Iran-Azerbaijan Keen To Expand Ties

Baku, July 14, IRNA – Iran’s Education Minister Hamid Reza Haji Babaee met with Azeri Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov here late Thursday Haji Babaeee emphasized the expansion of ties in all areas between the Islamic Republic and the Republic of Azerbaijan. “Two nations of Iran and Azerbaijan have had historic relations throughout history and they have many commonalities which should be used by both sides,” Babaee. Azeri Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, for his part, welcomed the visit of Haji Babaee to Baku emphasizing on further expansion of ties between the two neighbor countries. Mammadyarov, head of Azerbaijan-Iran Joint Economic Cooperation Commission, expressed hope that trade cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan will be further strengthened within the boundaries of the commission. Haji Babaee has traveled to the Republic of Azerbaijan to submit President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s letter of invitation to his Azeri counterpart, Elham Aliyev, to attend the upcoming summit of the non-aligned movement (NAM) in Tehran./end
