U.S. warships will face serious consequences if warnings ignored: IRGC general

TEHRAN,July 15(MNA) – The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Naval Force said that the aircraft carriers and warships of the United States in the Persian Gulf will face serious consequences if they ignore warnings given by IRGC naval forces. “In view of the current capability of the IRGC Naval Force, it is natural that we have full might in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf region. The Americans are obeying orders in the Persian Gulf, and if they do not obey international law and (do not heed) the warnings of the IRGC, it will have serious consequences for them,” Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi said on Saturday. Elsewhere in his remarks, the IRGC general said that Iran has enormously increased its missile capability, adding, “What the U.S. knows about Iran’s capability is much less than what it does not know.” “The reason that they have turned to the imposition of sanctions and mischievous acts is that they are not able to exert military pressure. If the (global) arrogance (forces of imperialism) and the United States can achieve their goals through a military action, they will certainly do so,” he added. The IRGC staged a missile exercise, entitled the Great Prophet 7, from July 2 to 4, to display its missile capability amid heightened tension between Iran and the United States. During the war games, dozens of domestically manufactured missiles were fired at mock enemy targets. On the possibility of a military conflict between Iran and the U.S., Fadavi said that it depends on “the extent of the stupidity of the Westerners.” In addition, he reiterated that Iranian armed forces are fully capable of blocking the Strait of Hormuz if the need arises. “But whether this capability would be used is a subsidiary matter. If the security is to be ensured for all countries except the Islamic Republic, the situation will definitely not remain unchanged,” he said.
