Thai police nab Lithuanians for use of fake credit cards
BANGKOK, July 21 (TNA) - Local police have arrested two Lithuanian men and charged them for allegedly using fake credit cards in withdrawing money from automated teller machine (ATM) in Pattaya and Si Racha in Thailand's eastern Chonburi Province.
The Lithuanian duo, identified as 22-year-old Marius Giedriunas and 20-year-old Dangis Valkauskas, were arrested after the Thai police seized 30 counterfeit credit cards, two black caps, a plastic mask and 460 US dollars in cash allegedly in their possession.
The Thai police said complaints were earlier lodged by Siam Commercial Bank that foreigners wearing masks used fake credit cards in withdrawing money from the bank’s ATM in Pattaya.
According to the police, the two Lithuanian men confessed during an interrogation that they had withdrawn about 10,000 U.S. dollars via ATM, of which most holders live in France. They reportedly told police investigators that they would receive 40 per cent of the withdrawn money while the rest was sent to their colleagues in Lithuania.
The two Lithuanian men were apprehended while they were about to board a bus from Pattaya for the Suvarnabhumi International Airport to fly home. (TNA)
