‘Fire of military intervention in Syria would engulf Israel’

TEHRAN,July 24(MNA) – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said that the fire of a military intervention in Syria would engulf the Zionist regime. “Logically, it is possible that a full-scale war would break out, but it is not a strong (possibility) because the ground is prepared for the spread of the war if it starts. And the regimes that suffer from delusions of grandeur, such as the Zionist regime, will be engulfed in this fire,” Larijani said in interview with Al-Alam News Network on Sunday. On calls for a military intervention in Syria being issued by certain regional and extra-regional players, he said, “I think it will prove costly for them. If they want to intervene in Syria outside the framework of the United Nations Security Council, it means that all countries are allowed to do the same.” “Those who make such a mistake will throw themselves into fire,” he stated, adding, “Instead of restoring calm, a military intervention will turn the country into a battlefield of powers and will inflict severe damage on the Syrian people.” In addition, he said that regional sides should be aware that the fire of war will spread through the region and should not expect their borders with Syria to remain calm.
