Iran backs reforms in Syria

TEHRAN,July 24(MNA )--Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports the implementation of political reforms in the crisis-hit Arab country. “We completely believe that Syria’s political system should be reformed… but the problem is that certain reactionary countries in the region do not provide an opportunity for (the implementation of reforms),” he said. He also proposed that a committee could be established to hold a parliamentary election with the participation of all groups, including the opposition, within a specified time frame, and in the meantime a presidential election could be held.
