Iran`s Saipa defeats Esteghlal

TEHRAN,July 28(MNA) – Saipa football team beat Esteghlal 2-1 in the 2nd week of the Iran Professional League (IPL) here at the Azadi Stadium. Saipa striker Saeid Daghighi’s effort was ruled out by referee Alireza Faghani in the 15th minute despite having crossed the line. Saipa played better in the second half and finally found back of the Esteghlal net in the 64th minute. Eshagh Khanzadi headed the ball past Esteghlal goalkeeper Mehdi Rahmati. In the 81st minute, Esteghlal striker Arash Borhani set Siavash Akbarpour up for the goal. Only one minute later, Daghighi silenced the stadium and gave Saipa a 2-1 victory over the Iranian giant. Elsewhere, Aluminium played out a goalless draw with Damash, Foolad lost to Sepahan 3-1, Malavan was held to a 2-2 draw by Sanat Naft, Mes was defeated by Naft 1-0, Paykan drew with Traktorsazi 1-1 and Zob Ahan suffered a home defeat 2-1 against Saba.
