Indian Leader Urges UN To Impose Sanctions On Myanmar

New Delhi, July 29, IRNA – An Indian leader Saturday urged the UN to impose sanctions on Myanmar over human rights abuses committed against Rohingya Muslims of Arakan region of Myanmar. In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Ram Singh Yadav, Vice President of Indian National League said: “All of us expect the world body, mend to control this type of crisis, should play the positive role at this juncture. The serious issue of continued massacre of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar must be brought to the forefront, instead of turning a blind eye”. Strongly condemning the genocide, he noted that as the toll of the conflicts continues to be too high for any of us to ignore, the blind eye is turned by the world bodies to the clear violations of international laws in the persecution of Muslims in Myanmar. “The UN should intervene and impose strict sanctions on Myanmar against the massacre,” Yadav demanded. The leader of the party also criticized the silence of Aung Sang Suu Kyi, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, on the plight of Rohingya Muslims. Her silence is shocking, he added. Emphasizing that Immediate action is necessary to end the suffering of the Rohingya Muslims, Indian leader again urged the UN to urgently respond to the crisis and take immediate actions to protect people, including women and children, from persecution.
