Parisian competition honors Iranian photographer

TEHRAN,July 29(MNA) -- The U.S.-based Iranian photographer Hamideh Zolfaqari won the gold medal at the French photo competition, the Prix de la Photographie, Paris (Px3) this year. Her photo named “Differences” was an entry in the Non-Professional Category of the contest with the central theme of “other”, the organizers announced on Saturday. “Differences” also stood third in the press section of the Non-Professional Category. Jonathan Knowles from Britain was announced as the best Photographer of the Year, and Miguel Candela from Spain was selected the Best New Talent. In addition, Zolfaqari’s three other photos were among the best selected works of the competition in 2009. Px3 strives to promote the appreciation of photography, to discover emerging talent and to introduce photographers from around the world to the artistic community of Paris. Photographers from around the world participate in the contest’s two professional and non-professional categories each year.
