SURIN, THAILAND, July 30 (TNA) – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has assigned authorities concerned to find out new approaches to address violence in Thailand's insurgency-plagued far South and to broadcast more Yawi language TV programmes to promote proper understanding for the government's work and policies among people in the Muslim-predominant southernmost region. Following the Thai Cabinet's mobile meeting in the northeastern Surin province Monday, Government Spokeswoman Sansanee Nakpong told a press conference that the prime minister expressed her concerns over continual violence in the Thai deep South and assigned Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung and Secretary-General to the Prime Minister Suranand Vejjajiva to discuss and work out the new approaches against the insurgency in the southern border region and to then submit them to the National Security Council (NSC) for further studies before their implementation to bring about peace to the Thai far South. According to the government spokesperson, the prime minister also assigned the Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre (SBPAC) to increase air time of Yawi language programmes broadcast on the government-run TV Channel 11 and the military-run TV Channel 5 in order to create proper understanding for the government's work and policies among locals in the Thai deep South.
