Tehran museum honors Iranian painter Aidin Aghdashlu

TEHRAN,July 30(MNA) -- The Iranian painter and art critic Aidin Aghdashlu was honored here on Saturday during a ceremony organized by Reza Abbasi Museum in Tehran. Museum curator Shahram Heidar-Abadian, director of Tehran Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department Mohammad-Hossein Farahani as well as a group of veteran artists attended the honoring ceremony, the organizers reported on Sunday. Every individual is well aware that Aghdashlu is a great professional painter and graphic designer, Abadian told the participants. He enjoys a high status in the art and culture of the country and pays due attention to Persian cultural heritage, Abadian added. Aghdashlu also made a brief speech and said that the museum is one of the best of its kind, being home to a precious treasure. “The museum actually presents a brief image of Persian history, culture and civilization to the visitors,” he said. He also talked about his interest as an individual in restoring old manuscripts and paintings. “I never thought to make money through restoring these items, I only meant to restore their beauty, which was threatened with destruction,” he added. Aghdashlu next talked about the title of the exhibit, which has been named “Other Half”, and said, “I think this is a good name. They included part of my restorations. Of course, some are not easily recognizable and some others contain my paintings.” The ceremony continued with the opening of the exhibition, part of which has been dedicated to Aghdashlu’s restored items. A collection of 50 works have been put on display until August 2 at the museum located on Shariati St. in the Seyyed Khandan neighborhood.
